Claudius ruled Rome from 41-54 CE. He came to power after most of the royal family was murdered but his life was spared when he was found hiding. He bribed the Roman guards into naming him emperor. People felt bad for him because he was disfigured had an awful stutter and was awkward. He helped build many aqueducts and push Rome into modern times with water supply. He passed many laws to help sick slaves and women. He apologized to people and showed the citizens of Rome respect. He decided to marry his own niece, Agrippina. In 50 AD, Agrippina convinced Claudius to make her son from a previous marriage his heir, his name was Nero.
